What Was the May Revolution?![]() In May of 1810, word reached Buenos Aires, Argentina, that Napoleon had conquered Spain. In what was initially a show of solidarity with their deposed King, the people of Argentina took the first step towards independence. The Plaza de Mayo, pictured to the left, is named for the events that occurred during the May Revolution.
